Google Finalizes Acquisition of Cloud Security Firm Wiz

Cloud security will be among the key topics discussed at the 2026 Cyber Summit, hosted by Potomac Officers Club on May 21. Register now to hear from government and industry leaders, who will discuss evolving cyberthreats and federal cybersecurity priorities.

While Wiz will operate within Google Cloud, it will retain its brand and continue to support customers across multiple cloud platforms, Google said Wednesday.

The transaction was completed after Google announced in 2025 a $32 billion all-cash agreement to acquire the cybersecurity firm, the largest acquisition in the company’s history, according to a CNBC report.

Why Did Google Acquire Wiz?

The acquisition reflects growing demand for stronger security capabilities as organizations increasingly move data, applications and AI workloads into cloud environments.

According to Google, combining Wiz’s cloud-native security platform with Google Cloud’s infrastructure and AI-driven threat intelligence capabilities is intended to help organizations detect and respond to cyberthreats more quickly.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said securing online systems is becoming more critical as companies and governments expand their use of cloud computing and generative AI technologies.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian added that the combination will support the development of a unified security platform designed to simplify the protection of multicloud environments.

What Does Wiz Bring to Google Cloud?

Founded in 2020, Wiz develops a security platform that provides visibility into cloud environments by connecting code, infrastructure and runtime activity.

The platform helps organizations identify vulnerabilities, assess risk and respond to cybersecurity incidents across multiple cloud providers.

Wiz’s technology already integrates with major cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud.

The company also provides Wiz for Government, a cloud-native security platform that has achieved Moderate authorization under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, enabling federal agencies to use the service to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen compliance with cybersecurity standards.
