What Is the Scope of the NAVFAC Contract?
Amentum said Monday the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, or NAVFAC, Southwest on Feb. 5, covers demolition services primarily supporting environmental remediation work at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, a designated Superfund site. The firm-fixed-price contract includes a two-year base period and three option periods, with work scheduled for completion in February 2031. The structure provides the government with predictable costs and stronger budget management.
What Capabilities Will the RSI-Amentum Joint Venture Bring?
To support the Navy’s environmental restoration efforts, Amentum will use technologies such as 3D scanning, GIS mapping, waste minimization modeling and advanced characterization techniques to promote reuse and recycling while ensuring safe execution.
Amentum President of Energy and Environment Mark Whitney said both companies bring extensive experience in safe remediation practices using advanced technologies.
“This opportunity expands our work with NAVFAC, where we will be bringing our unique expertise from decades of demolition and remediation experience at the most environmentally challenging sites in the U.S.,” Whitney said.
Meanwhile, RSI President Allison Getsi noted that Hunters Point represents one of the nation’s most technically demanding environmental restoration efforts. According to Getsi, the partnership combines complementary capabilities with a shared focus on safety, regulatory compliance and performance in support of NAVFAC’s mission.
Amentum’s Other Navy Work
The latest NAVFAC award builds on Amentum’s previous contracts with the Navy, including a potential $656.4 million contract awarded in January to the Amentum Mitie Pacific joint venture to provide base operating support at Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia. Amentum also won a $71.9 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division in March 2025 to deliver electromagnetic environmental effects test and evaluation services.
