Intel has appointed Robin Colwell, most recently deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, as senior vice president of government affairs in a series of senior leadership appointments.
The technology company said Monday Colwell will be based in Washington, D.C., overseeing global engagement with regulators, policymakers and industry leaders and advancing Intel’s strategic priorities as the company navigates trade, policy, government opportunities and national security.
“Robin’s broad experience and deep understanding of complex legal and policy environments will be invaluable to Intel,” said Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan. “She has a rare ability to navigate dynamic policy environments and deliver outcomes that benefit businesses, policymakers, and the communities they serve.”
Who Is Robin Colwell?
Aside from serving as deputy assistant to the president, Colwell was deputy director of the National Economic Council. She previously worked at BGR Group, where she advised clients on technology, telecommunications and cybersecurity policy issues.
In a LinkedIn post published Monday, Colwell said she is honored to be joining Intel in the new year and looks forward to partnering with teams and leaders worldwide to advance the company’s priorities.
“I am inspired by Intel’s renewed clarity of purpose under Lip-Bu Tan’s leadership and energized by the opportunity to help strengthen the relationships, trust and policy foundations that enable the company to lead,” she added.
Who Else Did Intel Appoint to Senior Leadership Roles?
Intel also announced the appointment of James Chew as VP of Intel Government Technologies. Chew will work closely with Colwell to strengthen the government affairs team. He brings to the role his leadership experience in government contracting and advanced tech markets.
The company named Annie Shea Weckesser, most recently chief marketing officer at SambaNova, SVP and chief marketing and communications officer. She will be based in Santa Clara, California, and will lead Intel’s newly integrated marketing and communications organization. She previously held leadership positions at NIO and Cisco.
Tan’s chief of staff, Pushkar Ranade, will take on additional responsibilities as interim chief technology officer to help shape Intel’s tech strategy and advance the development of quantum computing, advanced interconnects and other critical emerging technologies.
Ranade brings his expertise in semiconductor device physics and transistor process integration. Throughout his career at Intel, he has contributed to the definition and development of Intel Foundry’s process technology nodes. He holds a doctorate in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
