NRL Issues RFP for Satellite Software Development & Operations Support

The Naval Research Laboratory has released a request for proposals for research and development for satellite software and operations support contract.

NRL Satellite Software & Operations Support Contract Scope

According to the solicitation notice published on SAM.gov Tuesday, NRL is seeking qualified contractors to develop, sustain and operate software systems required to support Department of Defense satellite mission operations at NRL headquarters and the Blossom Point Tracking Facility.

The contract will cover IT infrastructure and cybersecurity support for the development and maintenance of custom mission operations software systems, facilitating NRL’s ability to execute R&D, test and evaluation satellite operations. The selected contractor will conduct development/security/operations, or DevSecOps, activities across the DOD-owned software suite, including Neptune Software, Virtual Mission Operations Center, or VMOC, software and the Transmit/Receive Enterprise, or TREx, services, to ensure uninterrupted satellite ground system operations, performance monitoring and usage tracking.

Other Contract Details

Work under the contract will primarily occur at NRL in Washington, D.C., with additional work conducted at BPTF. Interested vendors must submit their proposals by Nov. 19. The contractor will not be required to accept any single order or combination of orders exceeding $250 million.
