Saalex has acquired Greenfield Engineering as part of efforts to expand its software development capabilities and services for the U.S. Navy and other Department of Defense customers.
“The acquisition of Greenfield Engineering demonstrates the Saalex Corporation commitment to supporting the warfighter and growing our software development capabilities in highly sensitive and secure DOD environments,” Travis Mack, chairman and CEO of Saalex, said in a statement published Monday.
Greenfield Engineering President and CEO Will Weston, along with the company’s 61 employees, will join Saalex to support the integration process.
“Joining Saalex Corporation represents an exciting opportunity for Greenfield Engineering to expand our capabilities while maintaining our commitment to supporting critical naval aviation programs,” Weston said.
Saalex has been providing engineering, test range operations, IT and cybersecurity, software development, unmanned robotic process automation, training and wargaming support services for DOD and other government agencies for over 25 years.
Expanding Saalex’s Software Development Capabilities
Founded in 2002, Greenfield Engineering is a software and systems engineering firm specializing in avionics software development for the U.S. Navy.
The Lexington Park, Maryland-based company has supported Naval Air Systems Command by providing real-time software development, program management and configuration management support for naval aviation platforms.
Spalding Consulting Acquisition
In January 2024, Saalex purchased Lexington Park-based Spalding Consulting for about $75 million to broaden its software development, IT and engineering capabilities in the aerospace and defense market. The transaction provided Saalex with an immediate East Coast presence near a key client at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Patuxent River base in Maryland.
