Monique Shivanandan Named to Iridium Board of Directors

Monique Shivanandan has been named a member of the board of directors at Iridium Communications.

The global voice and data satellite communications provider said Tuesday Shivanandan will serve as an independent director under prevailing regulations. She will be part of the Compensation Committee.

“Monique brings a wealth of experience from senior executive roles in cybersecurity at leading banking and financial institutions and valuable perspective from her time on public company board service,” said Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium. “Add to that her early career roots in telecommunications, and it’s clear she’ll make meaningful contributions from day one. We’re pleased to welcome her to Iridium’s Board,” added the 11-time Wash100 Award winner.

Shivanandan’s Career Highlights

The executive brings 30 years of leadership experience in digital transformation, information security and data and analytics to her new role. She most recently served as general manager and group chief data and analytics officer at HSBC Holdings. She also held the chief information security officer position upon joining the company in 2020.

Before that, Shivanandan was the chief information officer of both the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies and Aviva. She also served as the chief technology officer of Capital One. The executive worked at BT Group and BellSouth Telecommunications in her earlier years.

Shivanandan served on several boards, including Sepio, Network International, Fannie Mae, and J.P. Morgan Securities.
