In this capacity, Chappell will help the Department of Defense advance its digital transformation efforts.

Looking forward to bringing orchestration and automation to complex and critical mission processes,” Chappell said in a LinkedIn post published Monday.
Jason Adolf, vice president of the global public sector vertical at Appian, welcomed Chappell’s addition to the company.
“Mike brings a wealth of experience to our team and will provide technical leadership in delivering complex missions systems to government,” Adolf said in a post on the professional networking platform.
Michael Chappell’s Career Background
Chappell most recently served as chief information officer for the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Enterprise, where he oversaw product and technical domains, including cloud, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
As CIO for the Army PEO Enterprise, he served as one of the speakers at the Potomac Officers Club’s 5th Annual CIO Summit in April 2024.
His nearly two-decade industry career included leadership roles at Ernst & Young, Accenture and Moog.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.
