State Department OKs $2.2B Netherlands Tomahawk Missiles FMS

The State Department has approved a $2.19 billion foreign military sale request by the Netherlands for Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles and related equipment.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday RTX will be the principal contractor for the proposed project.

Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles FMS Request Details

Under the proposed deal, the Netherlands will purchase 163 Tomahawk Block V All Up Rounds, or AURs, 12 Tomahawk Block IV AURs, up to 10 Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control Systems and up to two Tomahawk Block IV telemetry missiles.

The FMS request includes non-MDE items such as satellite data link terminals, integrated secure broadcast systems, communications security devices and technical, programmatic, engineering and logistical support for the Tomahawk AUR missiles, TTWCS and mission distribution software. The European nation also intends to acquire missile containers, software, hardware, training and training devices.

The Netherlands also requested unscheduled missile maintenance, spares, in-service support, communication equipment, operational flight test, publications, engineering and technical expertise to maintain the capability, non-recurring engineering, transportation and other logistics and program support elements.

The potential deal is intended to enhance the Netherlands’ ability to defend against existing and future threats using long-range, conventional surface-to-surface missiles with significant standoff range.

The DSCA notified Congress of the potential sale Friday.
