Sigma Defense Buys Electronic Warfare Tech Company EWA; Matt Jones Quoted

Sigma Defense Systems, a portfolio company of Sagewind Capital, has moved to expand its Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control capabilities with its acquisition of Herndon, Virginia-based electronic warfare systems provider EWA.

EWA was founded by President and CEO Carl Guerreri in 1977 to bring electronic warfare platforms, threat simulators, testing and training support and other services to the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and other defense and national security agencies, Sigma Defense said Monday.

“The electromagnetic spectrum is a critical source of signature data that must be collected, analyzed, distributed, and acted on with speed, the same as all other elements of CJADC2,” said Matt Jones, president and CEO of Sigma Defense.

“Understanding the full impact of EW attack and countermeasures is a critical component against a near peer adversary, so the alignment between EWA and Sigma Defense was a natural fit that accelerates our ability to deliver new solutions for our customers,” added Jones.

The transaction will enable Sigma Defense to broaden its portfolio and offer new approaches designed to address the challenges facing defense and military organizations worldwide.

KippsDeSanto & Co. acted as EWA’s financial adviser in the transaction.
