The Department of Homeland Security awarded a K2 Construction Consultants-led team a potential five-year, $253 million contract to supply nuclear and radiation portal monitors in areas covered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
K2 will complete the Radiation Portal Monitor Program Deployment contract in partnership with Parsons (NYSE: PSN) and Culmen International, according to the homeland security technical and management service firm.
Under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, K2 will lead the deployment of radiation portal monitors across the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders. The team will also be installed at global postal facilities as well as international airports and seaports.
“Culmen is proud to be part of the K2 team enhancing US and international security by implementing radiation portal monitoring solutions at critical sites,” Culmen CEO Dan Berkon remarked.
The project is managed by the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office.
