“His extensive experience in the military and deep understanding of training and deploying U.S. military forces will enable our company to better serve our military customers,” Scott Donnelly, chairman and CEO of Textron, said in a statement released Monday.
Garrett retired from military service in July 2022 after leading Army Forces Command for more than three years.
He held joint, operational and command tours during his career, which included four years with Army Central Command, and led the branch’s Middle East activity for six years.
A Xavier University graduate, Garrett is a recipient of Distinguished Service and Defense Superior Service medals.
He serves as a distinguished senior fellow on national security at the Middle East Institute, an Army War College senior mentor and a director at Semper Fi & America’s Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides financial and lifetime support to military veterans.
