General Electric (NYSE: GE), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Carbon-Carbon Advanced Technologies have received separate contracts from the Department of Defense to further build up supply chains for hypersonic systems and strategic platforms.
GE will increase capacity to produce high- and ultra-high temperature composites under a potential 39-month, $7.96 million contract, DOD said Friday.
The company will also update capital equipment to scale up the production of aeroshells and perform work at its advanced materials facility in Newark, Delaware.
Northrop secured a potential $9.43 million contract to broaden its domestic capability to manufacture U/HTC by procuring high temperature furnaces and automated preform manufacturing equipment.
The defense contractor will conduct work at its facility in Elkton, Maryland.
C-CAT will expand manufacturing spaces, develop new production capabilities and purchase capital equipment to produce large complex assemblies made of carbon-carbon under a 38-month, $7.57 million contract.
The company will perform work at its facility in Arlington, Texas, in support of the production of C-C nose tips and aeroshell assemblies for DOD-backed pilot manufacturing initiatives.
The department’s office of the assistant secretary of defense for industrial base policy awarded the contracts.
