Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has completed its purchase of the special mission business of Cobham’s aviation services unit and expects the acquisition to expand the portfolio at Leidos’ Australian arm with the addition of search-and-rescue and airborne border surveillance services.
The transaction was first announced in August and the acquired business will operate as part of Leidos Australia led by CEO Paul Chase, the company said Monday.
“Bringing in the Special Mission business will build on our global airborne ISR capabilities while providing new opportunities for growth. Together with Leidos Australia leadership, I look forward to working with this talented team,” said Roger Krone, chairman and CEO of Leidos and a nine-time Wash100 awardee.
James Woodhams, most recently managing director of Cobham Special Mission, assumed the role of vice president of airborne solutions at Leidos Australia as a result of the transaction.
The special mission business owns and runs 14 modified aircraft to deliver civil maritime surveillance and search-and-rescue support to Australia’s federal government.
