The OMES III contract will enable the engineering and technology directorate within the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland to acquire services to support the Joint Polar Satellite System, NASA’s Exploration and In-space Services and other projects, according to a notice published Friday.
The space agency expects the follow-on contract to be a cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a five-year ordering period and a maximum ordering value of approximately $719 million.
In 2017, Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) secured the potential five-year, $620 million OMES II contract, which will run through June 2022.
According to the statement of work, task orders that could be issued under OMES III include systems engineering, project management, fabrication, assembly, data systems management, test and verification, launch and post-launch operations, contamination control, systems safety and performance assurance support for spacecraft, components, subsystems, suborbital craft, simulators, ground support euipment and prototypes.
NASA divided the tasks into five major functions: technology development services; pre-formulation and formulation services; implementation phase services; operational phase services; and infrastructure services.
The agency plans to release the final RFP on April 11. The IDIQ contract is expected to be awarded on April 14, 2023, and take effect on June 13, 2023.
