State Department OKs $300M French MQ-9 UAV Logistics Support Extension

The State Department has approved a request by France to procure follow-on contractor logistics support services and related equipment for the country’s MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle fleet under a $300 million foreign military sales deal with the U.S. government.

General Atomics will serve as the principal contractor on the follow-on FMS transaction that covers the provision of MQ-9 aircraft components and spares, software, simulator environment and training equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

The French government also seeks personnel training, technical documentation, engineering, technical and logistical services as part of the proposed sale.

DCSA expects contractor support extension to help the French air force sustain operational readiness for national security efforts.

The agency notified Congress of the FMS proposal Friday and noted the deal would not require the U.S. government to send contractor representatives to France.
