David Feinberg, formerly the vice president of Google’s health business, has been appointed to serve as president, CEO and a board member of health information technology provider Cerner (Nasdaq: CERN).
The 25-year industry veteran will succeed Brent Shafer as CEO and Donald Trigg as president of Cerner effective Oct. 1, the company said Thursday.
Feinberg supported organizations that capitalize on artificial intelligence and other technologies in support of health care efforts within Google and its parent company Alphabet (Nasdaq: GOOGL).
He previously served as president and CEO of Geisinger Health, where he drove the adoption of new applications such as an IT system that facilitated big data integration into existing systems.
Cerner also appointed William Zollars, a board member of the company, to assume chairman responsibilities from Shafer, who has concurrently held the chairman and CEO roles since 2018.
