The U.S. Air Force has awarded Astronautics Corporation of America subsidiary Kearfott an $82.12 million sole-source contract to repair navigation systems on B-2 Spirit heavy strategic bombers.
According to a report, the IMU serves as the B-2’s navigation system computer that relies on data provided by AMSS ring laser gyro inertial navigation platform, among others.
Kearfott is a subcontractor for the IMU and the manufacturer of the AMSS.
The Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma sole-sourced the requirement to Kearfott and did not obligate any fund on the award.
