Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has promoted Christian Marrone from vice president to senior VP of government affairs.
He succeeds the retiring Robert Rangel, who has managed the company’s interaction with Congress and its customer relationships across the public sector, Lockheed said Tuesday.
Marrone served as vice president of external affairs and chief of staff at CSRA before he joined the Bethesda, Maryland-based aerospace and defense contractor in 2019.
He was the Department of Homeland Security chief of staff from 2014 to 2016 and spent more than six years at the Department of Defense in roles such as the special assistant to former Defense Secretary Robert Gates and acting assistant secretary for legislative affairs.
His career also included time as an executive in the defense markets division at 3M and VP of national security and acquisition policy at the Aerospace Industries Association.
“Robert has always been guided by a commitment to our men and women in uniform, pragmatic bipartisanship and upholding essential principles of ethics and integrity,” Jim Taiclet, president and CEO of Lockheed and 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, wrote in a LinkedIn post.
