The service chiefs of the U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy emphasized the role technology and data would play in joint efforts to transform warfighting across multiple domains at their meeting last week about the Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control concept, Army News Service reported Tuesday.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville said the CJADC2 initiative offers the “best way” for military services to achieve full capability integration and overmatch on the battlefield.
Gen. Charles Brown Jr., chief of staff at USAF, pointed to three ongoing programs that aim to accelerate the decision-making process with sensors and data management systems.
The two services are looking to merge the Army’s Project Convergence – which explores artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches for multidomain operational use — with USAF’s Advanced Battle Management System.
Both branches also want to integrate Project Overmatch — the U.S. Navy’s multicommand pursuit to facilitate a synchronized swarming force at sea – into the joint initiative.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday said the services aim to process information within internal networks to gain a decisive advantage and avoid detection by adversaries.
