The U.S. Air Force is seeking white papers under an open broad agency announcement that seeks to facilitate research and development in advanced manufacturing technologies to strengthen defense manufacturing capabilities.
The Manufacturing Research and Technology Development BAA will have a ceiling value of $500 million and the service anticipates multiple awards for the announcement in the form of grants, cooperative agreement, other transactions or any appropriate contract type under the Federal Acquisition Regulation, according to a notice posted Wednesday on the beta SAM website.
The Air Force Research Laboratory seeks to advance future factory technology, build up the digital manufacturing enterprise and explore additive manufacturing through the BAA.
Advanced manufacturing technologies are focused on five tech domains that are considered by the Air Force as high priority: advanced concepts; attritable and low-cost systems; networked command, control and communications systems; hypersonic strike; and emerging technologies.
White papers are due at any time before the expiration of the open BAA, which will run for for five years after the initial publication, according to the notice.
