Kirk Herdman, formerly executive vice president of business and corporate development at KeyW, has joined VTG as president of the Chantilly, Virginia-based company's national security solutions unit.
VTG said Thursday Herdman will also serve on its board of directors and lead expansion initiatives within the defense and intelligence sectors.
He joined national security contractor KeyW after its 2017 acquisition by Sotera Defense Solutions, where he previously served as chief strategy officer. Jacobs (NYSE: J) completed its purchase of KeyW in June 2019 as part of a government services market push.
Herdman supported Sotera's initial public offering in 2009 when the company was still known as Global Defense Technology & Systems Inc.
His career also includes executive roles at ManTech International (Nasdaq: MANT), General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), Veridian and Wyle Information Systems.
John Hassoun, VTG president and CEO, describes Herdman as “a thoughtful leader who brings a wealth of strategic insight, technical expertise, and operational savvy to this new role, as well as an impressive track record growing public- and private-sector businesses in the GovCon market.”
