Volansi Subsidiary Added to $400M USAF Air Platform Dev't Program

The U.S. Air Force has awarded a Volansi subsidiary a spot on a potential $400M contract to develop autonomous unmanned aircraft technology for the service branch’s Skyborg Vanguard initiative.

Voly Defense Solutions can compete for missionized prototype delivery orders through the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Department of Defense said Monday.

Prototyping efforts will involve the development of a modular air platform with software payloads and a core autonomy system to support manned-unmanned teaming functions.

Voly joins a pool of nine companies the branch selected in September to participate in the Skyborg program.

USAF awarded Boeing (NYSE: BA), General Atomics and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (Nasdaq: KTOS) separate 24-month contracts worth $77.8M combined in early December to build Skyborg prototypes for the operational experimentation.

The AF Life Cycle Management received 18 offers for the IDIQ via a competitive acquisition process. Contract work will take place in locations specified at the order-level through July 2026.
