A Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) executive has said the company submitted a bid to develop a next-generation interceptor system for the Missile Defense Agency to counter adversaries’ intercontinental ballistic missiles, Defense News reported Monday .
Sarah Reeves, vice president of missile defense programs at Lockheed, told reporters the company will apply its experience in the Redesigned Kill Vehicle, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense and Trident II programs when pursuing the agency’s NGI contract.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) and a team composed of Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) are the other contractors pursuing the new program.
The agency released its NGI solicitation in April after briefly halting the project last year and intends to select two final competitors.
