Chad Wolf assumed his new role as acting homeland security secretary on Wednesday, replacing Kevin McAleenan (2019 Wash100 recipient) who resigned from the role last month, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
Wolf previously served as acting undersecretary for strategy, policy and plans at the Department of Homeland Security, where he also served as chief of staff under then-DHS chief Kirstjen Nielsen (2018 Wash100 awardee).
Prior to DHS, Wolf held leadership roles at the Transportation Security Administration and served as vice president and senior director at Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm Wexler & Walker.
The report said Ken Cuccinelli, former acting director of DHS™ U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency, will serve as acting deputy secretary under Wolf.
President Trump announced Wolf™s appointment last week. In October, Trump said in a Twitter post that McAleenan was looking to join industry following his resignation.
