Lt. Gen. Duke Richardson: Seven Principles Help Air Force Make Contract Spending Decisions

Lt. Gen. Duke Richardson, military deputy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, has said the service branch uses seven principles on deciding how to manage its budget for contracts, Federal News Network reported Friday.

He told his audience during the Life Cycle Industry Days event last month that both government program offices and contractors have a responsibility to ensure that program requirements are addressed.

The legality of a transaction, certifications, oversight and due diligence are among the key factors underlying the branch’s procurement decision-making process, he noted.

During his speech, Richardson reflected on the negotiations between Boeing (NYSE: BA) and USAF regarding the presidential aircraft contract.

“We gave where we could and everybody said yes to the final agreement .. I™m proud of the deal we got.”

Richardson said he aims to help USAF increase collaboration with the private sector.
