Paul O™Neill, who served as the 72nd secretary of the Treasury Department, has been chosen to receive the 2019 Gerald R. Ford Medal for Distinguished Public Service.
Mike Ford, chairman of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, and Carla Hills, foundation trustee, will present the award to O™Neill at the foundation™s annual dinner on June 3 at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C.
œPaul has devoted his life to service to the American people with his long-serving public service positions and dedication to making a difference, Ford said.
O™Neill worked as a computer systems analyst at the Veterans Administration for six years and served at the Office of Management and Budget as deputy director between 1967 and 1977. He is former chairman and CEO of aluminum company Alcoa (NYSE: AA).
The foundation will also present at the event the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting to several recipients including Jenna McLaughlin and Zach Dorfman, Yahoo! News; Molly Ball, Time magazine; and Erika Ritchie, Orange County Register.
