SpaceX has won a potential $297M contract to send U.S. Air Force and National Reconnaissance Office satellites into orbit during the government’s 2021 fiscal year.
The firm-fixed-price contract covers launch services and the production of associated vehicles to support the AFSPC-44 mission as well as the NROL-87 and NROL-85 missions, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
DoD added the company will provide mission integration, spaceflight worthiness and other mission-specific activities.
NROL-85 and AFSPC-44 will launch from Cape Canaveral AF Station in Florida, while NROL-87 will take off from Vanderberg AF Base.
The contracting division at the Space and Missile Systems Center’s launch systems enterprise directorate received two offers for the contract and will obligate $285.2M at the time of award.
SpaceX will aim to finish contract work related to AFSPC-44 by February 2021 and complete services for NROL-85 and NROL-87 in December 2021.
