Italy-based conglomerate Leonardo has moved to combine three divisions into a new electronics division as part of growth efforts in the defense and security technology market.
Leonardo said Thursday the new business will consolidate the firm’s land and naval defence electronics, airborne and space systems and defense systems businesses.
The company also plans to integrate its traffic control systems and automation systems lines of business into the newly formed unit.
The Italian contractor originally known as Finmeccanica renamed itself in 2017 and operates a U.S.-based subsidiary called Leonardo DRS.
DRS maintains a portfolio of technology platforms and support services designed for the military and intelligence sectors.
