The U.S. Navy has awarded separate contract modifications to Data Link Solutions and ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) to continue support work on the service’s Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio Systems program.
Data Link Solutions, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL), will conduct MIDS JTRS modernization efforts under a $386.9M modification while ViaSat will perform upgrades for $96.2M, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
The modifications will raise the ceiling of the companies’ existing contracts, which were awarded in 2015, to $990M for Data Link Solutions and $698.2M for ViaSat.
The contracts combine purchases for the Navy, U.S. Air Force, MIDS Program Office, governments of various foreign countries and all NATO nations under the Foreign Military Sales program.
