HII Names Michael Smith as SN3 President, Scott Stabler as EVP, Chief Transformation Officer

Michael Smith

Michael Smith, formerly executive vice president for strategy and development at Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), has been named president of HII’s SN3 business.

He will directly report to Michael Lempke, president of the company’s nuclear and environmental group, HII said Wednesday.

HII’s strategy and development group will report to Chris Kastner, EVP for business management and chief financial officer.

SN3 is part of HII’s technical solutions division that was established in December 2016 after HII completed its purchase of Huntsville, Alabama-based government services contractor Camber Corp.

Smith joined the Newport News, Virginia-based shipbuilding company in 2014 as corporate VP for business growth.

He assumed the strategy and development EVP role in March 2016 after time as VP of corporate development for nuclear and environmental services.

Scott Stabler

Prior to HII, Smith previously served as sector VP for business development, strategy and planning at BAE Systems’ support solutions sector.

Scott Stabler, EVP for internal audit, has been appointed EVP and chief transformation officer at HII.

He will directly report to Mike Petters, HII president and CEO, and oversee the implementation of the company’s process changes and business model to address client demands with a focus on supply chain, technological and digital strategies.

Stabler will continue to manage internal audit operations until the company finds his successor.

He has held engineering, program management, business development and purchasing roles since his move to HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding business in 1984.

Stabler previously served as HII’s chief audit executive and held VP roles with responsibility over aircraft carrier construction, corporate operations, supply chain management and assembly.
