A joint venture ofHuntington Ingalls Industries™ (NYSE: HII)SN3subsidiary andBWX Technologies™ (NYSE: BWXT) technical services group has received a notice to proceed from the Energy Department to begin transition work on the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
HII said Wednesday the Newport News Nuclear BWXT-Los Alamos JV started Wednesday the 90-day transition period under a potential 10-year, $1.39 billion contract to clean up contaminants at the national lab™s 36-square mile site.
The contract awarded in December 2017 by DOE™s National Nuclear Security Administration has a five-year base term, a three-year option period and another two option years.
N3B will work with subcontractors Longenecker & Associates and Tech2 Solutions to respectively provide quality assurance and water program management services for the project.
SN3 is part of HII™s technical solutions division that was established in December 2016 after HII completed its purchase of Huntsville, Alabama-based government services contractor Camber Corp.
