Rob Thomas, formerly chief information officer and acting assistant secretary for the office of information and technology at the Department of Veterans Affairs, has joined Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) as vice president for strategic accounts and government relations.
Thomas will help Leidos advance organic growth strategies and client relationships in his new role, the company said Monday.
Gerry Fasano, an executive VP and chief of business development and strategy at Leidos, said he believes Thomas experience in IT, government services and cybersecurity would have an immediate impact on the firms government relations and strategic team.

Thomas is a 35-year federal government veteran who previously served as principal deputy assistant secretary and deputy CIO at VA.
Prior to VA, he served as an interim CIO and deputy CIO at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Thomas also worked for three years as VP for enterprise transformation at Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and as an adjunct professor at California State University for nearly four years.
He held senior leadership roles at the U.S. Air Force such as executive director for Air Force Personnel Center, assistant deputy chief of staff for warfighting integration and principal deputy CIO.
Thomas also worked at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection as director for technology and architecture and chief architect.
