Aileen Black, executive director, industry lead and group leader for the U.S. government at Googles cloud business, has said government agencies should consider three factors when migrating to the cloud and one of those is to understand the clouds capability to address the gap between the mission or user and big data analytics.
The cloud becomes a significant fueling agent in the analytics workflow, enabling teams to quickly and securely convert all types of raw data into easy-to-follow reports and highly visual dashboards, Black wrote.
Cloud also helps agencies generate insights by leveraging analytics and data.
The adoption of cloud platforms could help agencies facilitate agile deployment of applications and gain access to machine learning, artificial intelligence and other technologies that work to leverage data, she said.
Security scalability across the agency stack, workflows and users is another factor that agencies should consider when transitioning to the cloud, Black noted.
That involves tapping into individual security methods, leveraging clouds that contain a deep understanding and control of the entire data stack, and doing continuous testing and monitoring, she added.
She also called on agencies to leverage data and cloud platforms to help build capabilities and drive innovation.
The combined power of data and cloud is a force-multiplier, Black said.
Thats when data starts to fuel innovation and true transformation.
