October 6th Market Close: GovConIndex Closes Up While Major Indices Close Mixed

The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index (GCI) continued for its sixth consecutive day of gains, to close up 0.032 percent to 109.193 with advancing and declining shares pretty well split even.

The markets showed marginal movement closing mixed, with the S&P500 closing down 0.11 percent to 2,549.33, while the DJIA also moved down closing at 22,773.67 off 0.01 percent, and the NASDAQ Composite with its ninth consecutive day of gains ended up 0.07 percent at 6,590.18.

WTI crude oil on the NY Mercantile Exchange turned downward from yesterdays positive direction to drop below the $50 to close at $49.32 per barrel, down 2.89 percent.
