Austal™s U.S. arm has received a potential five-year, $584.2 million contract to build a Littoral Combat Ship for the U.S. Navy.
The fixed-price-incentive contract covers LCS class services and integrated data environment assistance and includes options for post-delivery availability support and construction of additional LCS vessels, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
Austal USA will perform work in Alabama, Massachusetts, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, Vermont, New York and other locations through December 2022.
The Navy will obligate the full contract amount from the service branch’s fiscal 2017 shipbuilding and conversion funds to build one LCS and $6.6 million from fiscal 2016 shipbuilding and conversion funds to pay for related support services.
