John Temple
John Temple, formerly vice president of contracts and supply chain management for SavannahRiver Nuclear Solutions, has been appointed VP of strategic sourcing at Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division.
HII said Tuesday he will oversee the division’s sourcing and procurement functions in support of shipbuilding contracts and customers throughout the design, construction, overhaul and repair of naval vessels.
In his previous role, Temple managed contracts and supply chain processes at the Energy Department‘s Savannah River Site facility operated by SRNS, a joint venture of Newport News Shipbuilding, Fluor (NYSE: FLR) and Honeywell (NYSE: HON).
The four-decade HII veteran received a “Master Shipbuilder” designation from the company five years ago in recognition of his four-decade continuous service in the shipbuilding industry.
He graduated from Newport News Shipbuilding’s The Apprentice School and started his career at the division’s pipe department.
