May 23 Market Close: GovCon Index Hits 30 Day High and S&P Close to 2,400


The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index closed up for the fourth consecutive with the advancers outpacing the decliners 3 to 1. The GovCon Index reached 30 day high of 94.234, up 0.367 percent.

All the U.S. indices were up on the day as the S&P500 came within 2 points of breaking 2,400. Markets responded to supportive European data that indicated global markets are on solid ground.

WTI broke through the $51 mark to settle at one month high of $51.36 up 0.45 percent as markets are optimistic about the nine month extension on production cuts to come from May 25th OPEC meeting.

The index, which tracks the stock performances of 30 major government contractors, ended at $4,786.97 for a 0.13% week-on-week gain.
