Former DNI James Clapper Named CNAS Intel, National Security Senior Fellow

Former National Intelligence Director James Clapper has been named distinguished senior fellow for intelligence and national security and member of the board of advisers at the Center for a New American Security.

CNAS said Tuesday he will mentor future national security leaders, contribute to research efforts and share his views on national security and intelligence issues in his new role.

Clapper was responsible for the U.S. intelligence community during his seven-year tenure as DNI.

He is a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant general who served more than three decades in the military.

Clapper also held other government roles such as director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, defense undersecretary for intelligence and director of defense intelligence.
