David Aguilar, a former commissioner of the Customs and Border Protection agency, has joined the board of directors at tethered drone and lightweight aerostat manufacturer Drone Aviation Holding.
Aguilar, who most recently led a team of more than 60, 000 as head of CBP, brings 35 years of experience in federal law enforcement and international security consulting, Drone Aviation said Thursday.
“I am honored to welcome David to serve on our board, bringing with him unmatched expertise and knowledge on matters of homeland and border security developed through his distinguished career at the CBP, ” said Jay Nussbaum, chairman and CEO of Drone Aviation.
Aguilar pioneered the U.S. Border Strategy as well as grew the size of the U.S. Border Patrol and implemented its infrastructure and technology program when he was national chief of the Border Patrol.
He served as deputy commissioner then acting commissioner at CBP before he assumed the top role in 2012.
After his retirement from CBP in February 2013, Aguilar co-founded and worked as a principal at Global Security and Innovative Strategies, a Washington, D.C.-based security consulting and business advisory firm.
