FLIR Systems Purchases Norway-Based UAS Maker Prox Dynamics for $134M

FLIR Systems (Nasdaq: FLIR) has acquired Oslo, Norway-based unmanned aerial systems manufacturer Prox Dynamics for approximately $134 million to create a new UAS business within the buyer’s surveillance segment.

FLIR said Wednesday it also intends to expand its airborne sensor product line with the addition of Prox Dynamics.

“The team at Prox Dynamics operates with a commercial mindset, which is a great fit for FLIR’s ‘commercially developed, military qualified, ‘ or ‘CDMQ, ‘ operating philosophy, ” said FLIR President and CEO Andy Teich.

Prox Dynamics offers the Personal Reconnaissance System mobile sensor platform that features its Black Hornet aerial sensor which utilizes FLIR’s Lepton micro thermal camera.

FLIR looks to optimize the range, cost, flexibility and performance of PRS and provide brand, distribution and customer support infrastructure to Prox Dynamics’ team.

Prox Dynamics builds nano-class UAS for military and para-military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications.
