Bruce Samuelsen
Bruce Samuelsen, formerly special adviser to Alion Science and Technology CEO Bahman Atefi, has been promoted to chief operating officer at the McLean, Virginia-based government technology and engineering services contractor.
Alion Science said Wednesday Samuelsen joined the company upon its acquisition of naval architecture firm John J. McMullen Associates in 2005.
“Bruce has consistently been a trusted voice who balances extensive technical knowledge with outstanding business instincts, ” Atefi said.
“He has helped us break into new markets around the world, and his insight and experience are essential to helping Alion grow substantially over the next few years.”
Samuelsens appointment comes on the heels of other C-suite level executive appointments Alion Science made in recent months, such as the hiring of Christopher Zember as chief technology officer in early October and the recruitment of Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) veteran Kevin Cook as chief financial officer in June.
