The U.S. Navy has awarded positions to 12 companies on a five-year, $800 million contract to prototype radio frequency components for electronic warfare, communications, radar and information operations.
The Defense Departmentsaid Monday contractors will vie for task orders to research, design, fabricate, integrate and test open RF systems as part of the Navy’s Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare Command and Control program.
The service branch launched the EMC2 initiative in a bid to establish information dominance by combining modular architectures with its existing RF technology, integrated topside or C4ISR systems.
The program will run through April 24, 2021, and the Office of Naval Research will finance individual orders with fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds.
