Doug Natal
San Jose, Calif.-based data technology provider MapR Technologies has appointed three-decade industry veteran Douglas Natal as vice president and general manager of the company’s federal government business.
MapR said Thursday Natal joins the company in conjunction with the opening of new offices in McLean, Virginia to focus on federal market operations as part of a larger effort to expand its presence in the government information technology and big data markets with an emphasis on live-streaming decision support.
Natal previously served as chief strategy officer and general manager of federal systems at biometric identity technology maker Crossmatch Technologies for two years and has also directed the North American public sector cloud computing practice at Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL).
He joined Oracle in 2012 upon that company’s acquisition of cloud computing software provider Taleo, where he served as VP of public sector, and is also a veteran of companies such as VeriSign, EMC (NYSE: EMC) and the company formerly known as EDS.
