General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary Gulfstream Aerospace has appointed Leda Chong, formerly senior vice president for strategic planning, as SVP for government programs and sales.

Gulfstream said Wednesday Chong will report to Gulfstream President Mark Burns and oversee global government and special mission sales and marketing, business development and international relations.

“During Leda’s tenure at Gulfstream, she has made tremendous strides in advancing our business and business aviation interests in the U.S., Asia and many other markets around the world, ” said Burns.

“Her leadership in government and international affairs and strategic planning will serve Gulfstream.”

As SVP for strategic planning, Chong was in charge of strategic business opportunities particularly for international markets.

She also previously held the role of Gulfstream SVP for the Asia-Pacific region.

The Hong Kong native joined Gulfstream from General Dynamics, where she started as director of government relations in 2007 and eventually led the Asia-Pacific operations of the aerospace business group, including Gulfstream and Jet Aviation.

Chong served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a commander.
