The Department of Defense said Wednesday the modification will also cover pre-operational acceptance support and post-operational acceptance interim contractor support. The modification raises the contract’s total cumulative value to $4.52 billion with a $162.6 million option. It also definitizes a previously awarded undefinitized change order. This extends the base period from 12 to 16 months and adds a 12-month option.
Raytheon will execute the work in its facility in Aurora, Colorado, and at Schriever Space Force Base, also in Colorado. Additional work will be performed at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California and other locations. The contract’s base period is set to be completed by March 31, 2026, and its option period will run through March 31, 2027.
The Space Systems Command at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in California will not obligate funds at the time of the award. The contract will continue to be incrementally funded.
In 2021, Raytheon received a $234 million contract from the Space Force to construct Blocks 1 and 2 of the GPS next-generation operational control system.
