General Dynamics NASSCO has secured a potential $138.7 million firm-fixed-price contract to provide maintenance, modernization and repair services to the USS Oak Hill, or LSD 51, dock landing ship.
Maintaining USS Oak Hill Mission Readiness
The Department of Defense said Friday the company will deliver services associated with labor, supervision, equipment, production, testing, facilities and quality assurance. Under the fiscal year 2025 USS Oak Hill Docking Selected Restricted Availability, or DSRA, GD NASSCO will provide the said services in support of the Chief of Naval Operations Availability for critical modernization, maintenance and repair programs.
The Naval Sea Systems Command, or NAVSEA, the contracting activity, aims to enhance the ship’s capability to carry out missions and maintain its readiness until the next CNO depot availability.
USS Oak Hill Dock Selected Restricted Availability Details
NAVSEA will allocate an initial amount of $126.3 million and $927,189 million from the Navy’s fiscal 2025 other procurement funds and operations and maintenance funds, respectively. The latter amount will expire at the conclusion of fiscal year 2025.
The contract work will occur in Norfolk, Virginia and is estimated to last 20 months. According to the SAM.gov notice posted in January 2025, the SRA will commence in August and is expected to be completed in April 2027. The deal includes option periods that raise the maximum value to $138.7 million if all are exercised.
