He most recently served as the senior strategy IT operations adviser of the Office of Deputy Chief Information Officer, where he was responsible for managing USPTO’s enterprise investments and advancing its mission.

Lau held other leadership positions at USPTO, including deputy director of the office of enterprise infrastructure delivery, engineering and operations, where he supervised the enterprise cloud enclave. He was also the director of enterprise software services, acting chief of communication services and senior operations manager for enterprise services.

The ECS executive also served as a senior adviser and acting chief technology officer at the Department of Commerce.
