KBR has received a new time and material, cost-reimbursable task order with a potential value of $187 million from the State Department to deliver medical support services in Iraq.
Medical Support Services Iraq Task Order
The Houston, Texas-based company said Monday the Medical Support Services Iraq, or MedSSI, task order, was awarded under the Diplomatic Platform Support Services contract.
The award covers comprehensive medical support services for more than 4,000 personnel supporting the U.S. diplomatic mission in Iraq. One of the services is handling the operations of a diplomatic support hospital and four clinics supporting the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
Under the five-year task order, KBR’s medical staff will perform primary emergency medical services to personnel on-site. Certified physicians, nurse practitioners, physicians’ assistants and support staff will provide general and specialty care, including surgery, gynecology, neurology, orthopedics, radiology, emergency medicine, critical care, mental health care and triage.
KBR’s History of Providing Medical Support
The MedSSI task order marks the first medical support contract between the KBR and the State Department. The company has a long history of providing NASA and the U.S. military with health and human performance services, including medical and psychological care for astronauts and special operations forces.
Byron Bright, president of government solutions at KBR and a five-time Wash100 Award winner, said, “Access to quality medical care is critical to State Department personnel and our team of skilled medical professionals and hospital administrators stand ready to provide top-notch care. With our long history in Iraq, KBR is well-positioned with a robust supply chain, sophisticated logistics and a solid understanding of Iraqi operational requirements.”
