The company said Tuesday the award to Textron Systems is in support of Mine Countermeasure Mission Package, or MCMMP, PDS production, spares and engineering services.
The MCMMP assists in naval mine sweeping and mine hunting missions, with the recent award expected to enable the Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle system to perform semi-autonomous mine sweeping operations.
Leveraging a towed acoustic generator and magnetic minesweeping cable, the Mine Sweeping PDS will work to clear magnetic, acoustic and magnetic/acoustic combination mines.
The Department of Defense, in its contract award notice, said Textron Systems will conduct work in Beltsville and Cockeysville, Maryland; Naples, Florida; Houston, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Yaphank, New York. Efforts are expected to run until October 2029, if all options are exercised.
“Textron Systems excels at integration work across our air, land and sea domains,” said David Phillips, senior vice president for air, land and sea systems at Textron Systems. “The PDS award builds on that expertise and allows the Navy to take integration one step further through production and fielding, resulting in a semi-autonomous solution.”
