The Herndon, Virginia-based company said Tuesday it will facilitate the design, development, test and deployment of different multi-stage, long-range sub-orbital rocket systems. The award also covers the necessary ground test hardware, specialized test equipment and rocket launcher maintenance and refurbishment.

Peraton will partner with Northrop Grumman, Invocon and Hainz Engineering Services for the project, which comes with a 60-month period of performance. Contract work will be conducted at Peraton’s Princess Anne, Maryland facility, known for providing full lifecycle launch services for sounding rocket and threat-representative missile target vehicles since 2010.

Under the contract, Peraton will launch the rocket vehicles from land, sea and air at different locations worldwide to facilitate testing and further development of missile defense and hypersonic mission capabilities.

The LSOV supports other programs and defense systems such as Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, Air and Missile Defense Radar, Maritime Missile Defense and Sea-Based Terminal. The project will also provide for fleet training, foreign military sales and other programs requiring rocket-propelled vehicles. It is expected to benefit the Army, Air Force, Missile Defense Agency and other development programs.

Peraton Chairman, President and CEO Steve Schorer, a two-time Wash100 Award winner, said, “We are committed to delivering innovative solutions and this program will provide a test bed for developing new missile defense capabilities and enhance our global posture.”
